George Henry Longly is an interdisciplinary artist, researcher and curator. His practice emerges from an interest in art and science, spanning scales from the nano to the cosmos, and fields from geology and anthropology to microgravity. In 2022, his work travelled to the International Space Station through a collaboration with UCL Anthropology (ETHNO-ISS). His work explores the human condition through material culture and the built environment. He is currently artist in residence at UCL School of Pharmacy (UCL200) and is developing a major permanent public artwork at London Bridge (2026). Longly is a founding member and curator of Ridley Road Project Space. Ridley Road Project Space emerged during the pandemic from a community of artists living and working in London, providing a platform for an intergenerational group to exhibit work, exchange ideas, and build support structures for artists navigating the structural conditions of the city. It has since moved from Dalston to Woolwich, and he is currently developing a publication documenting the project to date. Exhibtions include: Palais de Tokyo, ICA London, Serpentine Galleries, Red Bull Arts NY, South London Gallery, Kunsthal Aarhus, Nottingham Contemporary, Lisson Gallery, and Fiorucci Art Trust. https://www.theartnewspaper.com/2022/02/25/how-an-artists-east-london-studio-threatened-by-developers-turned-into-a-space-of-queer-solidarity-ridley-road-project https://thewhitepube.co.uk/texts/2022/i-love-london/ https://www.artforum.com/events/george-henry-longly-217605/ https://ethnoiss.space/ Full CV and PDF available on request [email protected] |
